You are about to sit down with a potential client who is a 41-year-old male. This individual has not participated in physical activity or an exercise program for five years beyond walking from time to time. He is coming in for an initial discussion about the possibility of starting an exercise program with you. His doctor has told him he should start some form of physical activity because his health status is at risk. He has no injuries or health concerns and would like a full body workout to get started due to his limitation on time to exercise.
Your assignment will focus on two parts:
Part 1: Provide an outline of how you will incorporate one of the behavior modification models with this newly gained client based on the limited information you have been provided about them. Provide details of the initial meeting with them and how you would attempt to frame the conversation around helping to identify their current state of change and the change you would like to see. What methods would you utilize to motivate this client to begin an exercise program? Choose one behavioral change model and explain how you would utilize this model for behavioral change. Further, describe other tools you would use to coach your client.
Part 2: Design a program to help improve function in everyday life. This workout should include 1 multi-joint exercise for the upper body, 1 single joint exercise for the upper body, 1 multi-joint exercise for the lower body, 1 single joint exercise for the lower body, and 2 core exercises. Please provide information for the exercises selected including the rationale, and describe the goal for each exercise. Include recommended repetitions, and sets on the spreadsheet for each exercise. The program should be one page with exercises listed in the order you want them completed.
This paper should be 3-4 pages long, not including title page or reference page. Students should use APA format with 12-point font, 1-inch margins, and double spacing. The exercise program should be one page with an exercise list. Information on each exercise should be included in the paper.
