Students will create, describe and analyze a persuasive message. First, they will create a persuasive message, which may take the form of an issue-advertisement, editorial, Public Service Announcement (PSA), or direct mail flyer. Students should utilize a variety of strategies, theories and concepts discussed in the course. After they create their persuasive message, students will write an 8-10 page report using APA style and at least two credible sources for their persuasive message which will include:
1) the message created by the student (inclusion of this message does not count toward the length requirement)
2) research on their topic (discussion of research about the topic should not exceed 2 pages)
3) a summary of the theories that have informed the creation of their persuasive message
4) an evaluation of the intended audience for their message, and an explanation of how each persuasive theory was crafted to appeal to this specific audience
5) an analysis of the persuasive strategies they have employed in their message, including an evaluation of the persuasiveness of such strategies based on the concepts or theories that inform them
