Background: As a noteworthy public historian and artist, you have been
asked to design a monument to commemorate a forgotten (or not well known) event/aspect/person/ideal of world history
since 1450. Who or what will you focus on? Choose only from information that we have studied together.
What will the monument look like & where will it be? What will this monument say to viewers
about this specific moment in world history?
Instruction:
Create a portfolio with an image(s) of your proposed design and a written proposal that clearly states what message you want the monument to send. If you do outside research,
use citations.
• Title & description: A title for the monument
• Location: Where is it going?
• Physical Description: What does it look like? Include your own sketch or find
similar images
online from other monuments. Also describe your design choices briefly in
prose.
• Narrative: A 500 word proposal for the new monument. Explain why you
chose what you did.
• Constituents: Who is your audience? Who would be invested in this monument?
• Trouble Shoot: Who would it upset, and why?
