ASSIGNMENT NAME: Problem-Oriented Policing Project
DUE DATE: May 4, 2022
FORMAT: APA
PAGE REQUIREMENT: Five page minimum (not including title page or reference page).
RUBRIC: Writing Assignment Rubric listed in D2L.
Points: 200 points
INSTRUCTIONS:
Your job will be to design a problem-oriented policing (POP) response to a crime problem in your community. This can be the community you either live in or work in. With the knowledge you have of your community or through local new stories, identify a crime trend you would like to respond to. This can be something simple as graffiti or something as complex as multiple homicides/assaults.
Once you have identified this issue, use resources to put together a response. You can use the Center for Problem-Oriented Policing (https://popcenter.asu.edu) to assist you. The website has POP Guides to assist you as well as POP Projects to give you examples of responses police departments have used. The S.A.R.A. model may also be of use to you in putting together the format of your paper.
Use information and knowledge from the entire semester, not just from the community policing unit. I recommend you start researching a topic now, starting putting some information together, and then complete the paper sometime after the community policing unit (week 14). This is a five-page minimum requirement. One of these pages can be for pictures or diagram (which leaves four pages of text). You must keep track of your sources and use a Reference Page if you cite work from another entity (textbook, author, website, etc).
