For this paper, you will examine two apocalyptic/post-
apocalyptic narratives from different cultures or
historical periods, for narrative features and symbols
that reveal connecting threads of social issues and
psychological climates that are common and constant
between the time periods and/or cultures of the two
pieces.
When you examine these two narratives look closely
for the cultural, psychological/spiritual, and historical
factors we have discussed in class that lead to the
piece’s apocalyptic view.
You may use any type of narrative, from myth to poem
to short story, but at least one of the texts must be
one that we have examined in class. You can also use
two from class. The best way to compare these
features of the narratives is through their motifs,
symbols, and themes, as well as their plots. You are
asked to use your own interpretation of the narratives,
but you will support your comparison with at least two
but you will support your comparison with at least two
scholarly sources.
Don’t forget, this paper is not a list. It is important to
tell your audience what the similarities
mean. Why are they significant?
1would prefer MLA formatting, but you may use the
formatting that you are most familiar with. I only ask
that your formatting be consistent.
